Great line-up for Imbumba Fiesta

Imbumba Fiesta comprises a free summer themed market, food stalls, info stands, an open mic from 9am and a ticketed sun-downer concert from 3pm.

THERE is an amazing musical line-up for the afternoon concert on the first day-long Imbumba Fiesta taking place in Glenwood’s Bulwer Park on Saturday 3 February.

Imbumba Fiesta comprises a free summer themed market, food stalls, info stands, an open mic from 9am until 2pm, and a ticketed sun-downer concert from 3pm until 7pm – all with an underlying message of encouraging good neighbourliness, supporting underprivileged children and showcasing local artists and crafters.

The afternoon music line up boasts an eclectic mix of Durban musicians including Scelo Gowane, Afro-soul and R&B artist, a self-taught producer, guitarist and composer, Sosha whose music crosses the boundaries of kwaito/hip-hop/rap/dance and electronic, Thee Legacy, a distinctly South African contemporary isicathamya acappella group, singer, songwriter and performer Holly Wasserfall who has carved out a place for herself in the country’s flourishing Afro-house music scene becoming a fixture at major live events, hip-hop/rap/kwaito star, Bullistic, Nina Mkhize, a jazz trained vocalist and composer and two-time winner of the Old Mutual Jazz Encounters Awards from Durban whose repertoire includes original jazz and African music compositions and renditions of art songs standards, Sandile DV Sithole, AKA J Sabali – local Skandihop/hip-hop artist, and The Name on the Drum, a local alternative/indie rock outfit.

Included in the afternoon line-up will be the winner of the morning open mic session who will open the concert.

Jazz singer Nina Mkhize will perform at the event.

The KZNSA Gallery will be open, Holly Wasserfall, a keen chess player herself, and the chess association will be in attendance to introduce visitors, especially children, to the world of chess, and eThekwini Parks and Recreation will be supporting the day with a display of indigenous plants and trees and staff who can share knowledge about indigenous gardening. They will also be starting the day with an hour long park clean up from 8am to 9am to which the Glenwood community is invited to attend and participate.

Entry to the day is free and all are welcome. The music concert takes place from 3pm until 7pm in Bulwer Park. Tickets (R80 for adults and R20 for children) are available at the gate or on the Facebook page using Zapper.
