Fun holiday programme for kids

Children’s holiday programme offers playful education at the Bat Centre in December.

THE BAT Centre invites children from Durban and surrounding areas to its Children’s Holiday Programme between 12 and 21 December, in order to involve underprivileged children in music, arts, sports and infotainment activities centered around education in a safe and fun environment.

Children will have the opportunity to participate in activities connected to arts and education, so they can discover their creative potential, learn how to express themselves and be part of a group of children from different backgrounds. The programme ia imed at children who are aged between four and 16 years and are situated in South Beach/Point, Albert Park/St George’s, Clairwood, Burnwood and anywhere else in and around Durban.

On a day-to-day basis, the children have breakfast at 9am and then play games, which are followed by activities such as painting, dancing, storytelling, acting and much more. There will also be supportive discussions in the field of life skills topics offered to the older children. Cooperations with the Durban Botanic Gardens and the Natural Science Museum will also take the children on trips outdoors.

The groups will be monitored by young volunteers that have themselves been part of the programme before or are dedicated to working with and educating children. The BAT Centre is inviting anyone interested in and skilled in education of children and adolescents to assist as volunteers, facilitators and guidance mentors.
