Big-budget romcom shoots in Durban

The movie is partly funded by the KZN Film Commission.

FUZE Films and Love’s Reject (Producers of Mrs Right Guy) are filming another romantic comedy, this time set in sunny Durban, South Africa. The film, titled ‘Love Lives Here’ features a South African all-star cast, 27 of those hailing from KwaZulu-Natal. The film tells the story of Zinhle Malinga (Thando Thabethe), a jaded romantic, whose quests for that picture-perfect prince charming have left her disillusioned about the idea of true love.

Like most successful young women, Zinhle is ready to settle down but is yet to find a man who wants the same thing and has resigned to putting her search for love on hold. When she meets Nathi Shange (Lungile Radu) everything changes, and she sets out to get commitment from him in the form of a ring. But Nathi has sworn off marriage, and this brings Zinhle to the beginning of her journey to understanding the true meaning of love and ultimately finding the love she deserves.

‘Love Lives Here’ was partly funded by the KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission through its Film Fund for production funding. “This is really a delightful moment for the KZNFC.

“We are starting to see a lot of great feature films coming out of the film fund. Recently Keeping up with the Kandasamy’s made history generating over R16 million in box office earnings, a huge achievement for a local production, and we anticipate the same for this blockbuster,” said Carol Coetzee, CEO (KZNFC).

The film is set to spend over 70% of its production budget in the province and has created employment for more than 40 local filmmakers and providers of related services. With more and more films shooting in the province, KwaZulu-Natal is well on its way of becoming the country’s choice film destination.
