Audition for part in iconic piano show

Auditions will take place on Monday 30 October at the Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo.

SOUTH Africa’s iconic piano show, A Handful of Keys, is coming to Durban and is on the lookout for a new pianist to feature in the line-up.

As the show tours, the management is sourcing pianists in each region to be guests star joining Roelof Colyn and newcomer James Smith in the run of A Handful of Keys which is coming to Durban this November.

Auditions will take place on Monday 30 October at the Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo. The director of A Handful of Keys, Ian von Memerty, will be in Durban to host the audition process starting at 10.30am.

Co-creator of the historic show, von Memerty said: “You will need to perform one razzle dazzle piano piece, in any style. And then a contrasting number – a song, a parody or something completely different. So please prepare two totally different pieces to blow us away!”

The successful pianist would need to be available to perform for the Durban run at the iZulu Theatre at Sibaya Casino and Entertainment World from 8 to 19 November.
