Performers celebrate Ubuntu

The 12th Annual African Cultural Calabash concert celebrates cultural diversity in both music and culture.

THE 12th Annual African Cultural Calabash and African Cuisine – Rootless Africa, Remembrance of Who We Were – will be hosted at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Howard College Theatre on Friday 6 October at 7.30pm.

The concert celebrates cultural diversity in both music and culture and features artists from various cultural backgrounds. The headliners are Ithwasa Lekhansela, a Maskandi artist from Umbumbulu who has worked with Maskandi giants Bahubhe and Phuzekhemisi, and a young group from the south coast, Emzini Arts Youth Production who integrate music, dance and theatre, and have performed in various venues such as The Durban Playhouse and Ushaka Marine World.

Tickets are R80 for adults and R40 for students and are available at UKZN Centre for Jazz Howard College Campus. The show will be followed by delicious African cuisine.
