Burton Naidoo performs at The Jazzy Rainbow this weekend

The performance part of the Concerts SA Venue Circuit which aims to foster a love and support for live music in our communities

DURBAN-born pianist/composer/arranger Burton Naidoo is about to release his much awaited debut album, Kintsugi. Naidoo will be performing at The Jazzy Rainbow on Saturday, 23 September.

The philosophical idea of Kintsugi (Golden Joinery) is the‘art of embracing damage’ or ’recognising beauty in broken things. Broken pottery is mended using gold or silver infused lacquer, and the damage is seen as part of the history of that object. Burton Naidoo has revisited compositions that he wrote when processing a personal tragedy in 2010. The result of that being Sanctum. The music has now been rearranged for a 7-piece band which includes some of Durban’s most creative and innovative musicians, namely Leon Scharnick, Riley G, Dalisu Ndlazi and Phumlani Mtiti. He will also feature some brand new music.

The Jazzy Rainbow is at 93 Smiso Nkwanyana Road, Morningside. Doors open at 7pm and the entrance fee is R70 including a free drink (T&C).For booking contact 031-3038398 or email jazzyrainbow@mweb.co.za
