Choral music fundraiser

The concert has now become an annual event to support the work of the Denis Hurley Centre.

THE annual Sing with One Voice, choral music and dance concert featuring five Catholic schools from the greater Durban area, will take place at Emmanuel Cathedral on Wednesday, 20 September at 6pm. A fundraiser for the Denis Hurley Centre, this year’s theme is A Song for World Peace.

The concert is an annual event to support the work of the Denis Hurley Centre. It provides an enabling environment for care, education and community building in one of the most diverse and challenging neighborhoods of downtown Durban, close to the busiest road and rail transport hub in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

Thomas Moore Kloof, St Benedicts Pinetown, St Francis Mariannhill, and Maris Stella Berea will provide the choral music at the evening concert and the learners from KwaThintwa School for the Deaf, which was founded by Archbishop Hurley, will perform a showcase of dances.

The programme culminates with all choirs joining in to sing en masse, the English folk song, Oh Shenandoah. The programme will be co-ordinated by Annabelle Burgess and Susan van Blerk from Maris Stella. Guest of honour this year will be Monsignor Paul Nadal.

Entry is free and all are welcome! A collection will be taken for the Denis Hurley Centre. Safe parking at the Cathedral. Tea will be on sale after the concert.
