Quartet for Friends recital

David Kosviner's Durban Essence will be premiered at this concert.

THE next Friends of Music Association recital is on Tuesday, 22 August at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 KE Masinga (Old Fort) Road, Durban at 7.30pm.

The Kayser Quartet, a group of local musicians is comprised of Géza Kayser (1st violin), Jitske Brien (2nd violin), Claire Hamilton (viola) and Nigel Fish (cello), will perform. The group was formed in 2014 and are joined at the recital by well-known pianist, harpsichordist and musicologist, David Smith.

Their programme will include Beethoven's String Quartet No. 11 in f minor, Op. 95, Shostakovich's Piano Quintet in G minor Op 57 and David Kosviner's Durban Essence, which will be premiered at this concert. The music was prepared for Smith, Géza Kayser and the Kayser String Quartet.

Prelude performer is soprano Robyn Gillespie , (18), who has won many awards at festivals and eisteddfods for both voice and violin. Her accompanist is Dr Ros Conrad.

Tickets are R80 for members, R100 for visitors and R20 for orchestral members and students.
