Celebrating Bastille Day

Enjoy a Bastille Day weekend at Granada Square.

THE Bastille Day Wine Festival, set to be one of KZN’s most fun-filled food-and-wine extravaganzas of the year, takes place at Granada Square in the heart of Umhlanga from 13 to 15 July.

Bastille Day is the common name given in English-speaking countries to the French National Day, which is celebrated on 14 July each year in France. The French National Day commemorates the Storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, a turning point of the French Revolution, as well as the Fête de la Fédération which celebrated the unity of the French people on 14 July 1790.

Whether you are French or not, celebrate with superb wine on offer from over 35 wine estates and delectable European inspired gourmet food that will be available at the festival from Umhlanga’s premier eateries, including Europa, Angelo’s, Pintxada, Little Havana and Ferruci.

From 6pm on Thursday, 13 July, and from 2pm on Saturday, 15 July, enjoy live entertainment that will bring joie de vivre to the Festival of France while the restaurants will have in-house specials on Friday, 14 July from 6pm to mark the occasion. Bookings are essential.

Tickets which cost R125 for each day, include a festival glass and festival tokens to use for wine or/and food. Tickets are available through Zapper and are limited.

Ample secure parking is available.
