WATCH: It’s the Royal Show time

The Royal is the largest mixed agricultural show on the continent of Africa.

WITH the focus on introducing ‘town to country’, the 167th Royal Show opens its gates to the public on Friday, 26 May, for 10 days of action-packed interest and enjoyment.

The Royal is the largest mixed agricultural show on the continent of Africa, and aside from catering for the nation’s best livestock, we will also see the presence of virtually every tractor and implement manufacturer.

Today the show also hosts a meaningful display of construction and materials handling equipment, this to complement a broad mix of more than 400 commercial, industrial and service sector exhibits.

 

 

The Mercury Hall of Fine Living will hosting a food and culinary display, focused on the food chain from production to consumption.

The KZN leg of the Toyota SA National Young Auctioneer Competition takes place in the Sheep Section on Saturday, 27 May.

The East Coast Radio Royal Rock Concert, featuring The Black Lapels, Ard Mathews, Dan Patlansky and Locnville on Saturday afternoon, 27 May.

The Vuma FM Concert, including amongst others MsiziShembe, Makhosi Khozi, Linda ‘The Game’ and Siphokazi on Sunday afternoon, 28 May.

The Hindvani FM Extravaganza will see a fusion of entertainment from comedy through to dancing and music, on Saturday evening, 3 June.

The Royal Symphony Concert on Sunday morning, 4 June, with a 90-minute performance.

The 2017 Royal Show will be privileged to host an international Womens tent-pegging competition between the Proteas and Jordan on Thursday, 1 and Friday, 2 June.

 

 

There are national dog agility trials on Friday,2 and Saturday, 3 June.

Also on Saturday, 3 June, the Umvoti Mounted Rifles will – together with bands – be parading in the main arena.

The ‘Coca-Cola Monster Activation’ on the main arena on Friday evening 2 and Saturday afternoon, 3 June, will host a combination of endure-bikes, skate-boarding, BMX and Moto-Cross trials.

There’s the ‘Extreme Car Stunt Show’, with car chases, rescues, explosions and surprises set to thrill the family. on Saturday, 3 June. These are just some of the events to look forward to.

Gate charges are R65 per adult and R40 for children under 12 and pensioners.
