Trio Frontier for Friends’ recital

Top local classical musicians are to perform at the next Friends of Music recital.

THE Friends of Music announces the return of the Trio Frontier on 23 May at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 KE Masinga (Old Fort) Road in Durban at 7,30pm.

The artists include Christopher Duigan, one of South Africa’s leading concert pianists who has performed extensively with South African orchestras. As producer and impressario, he is the director of the widely acclaimed Music Revival. In Manchester he was awarded the professional Performance Diploma and won first prize in the prestigious RMCM recital prize for pianists. He is a Steinway artist.

Junnan Sun is Chinese born and is the principal clarinettist of the KZNPO. He studied at the RCM in London obtaining a Master of Performance specialising in orchestral studies with distinction.

Aristide Du Plessis was born in Durban and has established a reputation as one of South Africa’s leading cellists. Aristide is currently co-principal with the KZNPO.

Prelude performer is tenor, Sandile Mabaso.
