Young performers in concert
The concert will showcase the solo skills of 15 of the most promising young KZN orchestral performers and vocalists.
BUDDING music and vocal students will get their turn to shine in the Young Performers’ Concert at the Playhouse Drama theatre on Saturday, 20 May at 7pm.
The once-off concert is organised by the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and the South African Society of Music Teachers and will showcase the solo skills of 15 of the most promising young KZN orchestral performers and vocalists in a variety concert type format performing an eclectic repertoire of classical highlights, opera arias, and even crossover opera/pop.
The concert features the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Naum Rousine. It is a red letter day for many of the orchestra players, who have the opportunity of performing publicly with their music students.
“For many of the young performers, this is a hugely significant opportunity for them as it is their first opportunity to perform with a professional orchestra, and it is often the springboard to their future musical careers,” said Bongani Tembe, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of the KZN Philharmonic.
