Romanian pianist for recital

Daniel Chiobanu has received many first prizes including the Unisa first prize in 2016.

FRIENDS of Music presents Romanian pianist Daniel Chiobanu at a recital on Tuesday, 21 February at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 KE Masinga Avenue, Durban, at 7.30pm.

Cibanu, (25), now lives in Berlin. He graduated with a Master’s degree. At the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, he won all the major internal piano competitions, being the first learner to achieve such an honour. Chiobanu has received many first prizes including the Unisa first prize in 2016, and has performed with many orchestras around the world.

His programme will include works by Silvestri, Chopin, Mussorgsky, Enescu, Medtner and Prokofiev.

Prelude performer is soprano, Zama Mkhwanazi. Zama is a Grade 11 music student at Northlands Girls' High School and is a member of the KZN Youth Choir. She is a soloist for both her school and the youth choir as well as in theatre productions.

Tickets are R80 for members, R100 for visitors and R20 for orchestral members and students.
