Passenger entrapped after truck hits tree

The police will be investigating the cause of an accident in Bulwer Road on Saturday morning.

A PASSENGER had to be freed from the inside of a truck he was trapped in after the vehicle smashed into a tree on Bulwer Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to Garrith Jamieson from Rescue Care Paramedics, at around 12.30am paramedics found the passenger severely entrapped in the wreckage. Durban Fire Department was called to assist and used the jaws of life and other hydraulic equipment to free the man.

Jamieson said it took an hour for the man to finally be freed from the vehicle. He was then stabilised before being transported to hospital.

“At this stage the exact cause of the accident is unknown, however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further,” said Jamieson.
