Helping hands brighten up children’s home

The volunteers of Helping hands 786 are seen with staff and young residents at Hepburn House where they enjoyed a Color Me Happy day to commemorate International Day of People with Disability last weekend.

THE young and old volunteers of Helping hands 786 spent last Saturday with staff and young residents at Natal Settlers Memorial Home‘s Hepburn House, a home for children challenged with cerebral palsy, where they enjoyed a Colour Me Happy event to commemorate International Day of People with Disability.

Aneesa Vawda, PRO for the organisation, said in keeping with the theme of 2016’s International Day of People with Disabilities, Achieving 17 Goals for the Future we want, they wanted to revamp and transform the living conditions of the children by painting the unit in bright, happy colours and beautiful wall murals. “We have enjoyed livening up the kids rooms with bright colours and 3D wall murals, as well as stimulating fabric attachments they are able to pull off the walls,” she explained.

” We are also going to try to arrange sponsors to help with their wish list and will sponsor five children with their school needs,” she added.
