Zulu dancers compete at uShaka

Catch Zulu dancing at uShaka Marine World this November.

USHAKA Marine World willecho with the sounds of African drums as over 60 dance troupes perform various traditional dances associated with the Zulu culture and based on warrior war dances in November.

The uShaka Marine World Zulu Dance Championship, now in its 13th year, in association with the Department of Arts and Culture, will see dance troupes battle it out to win one of three top spots from four entrant categories, that of indlamu, ingoma, ushameni and umzansi dance. The finals will take place on Sunday, 27 November.

The prize pool is R10 000 for first place, R8 000 for second place and R5 000 for third place. Each of the top three winners will also be offered seasonal work at uShaka Marine World from December.

Hundreds of dancers will compete on 5, 12 and 19 November. The public is invited to go along and support the dancers.
