Magicians put a spell on Durban audiences

Amateur and professional magicians will perform in a show entitled Magical mayhem at Rhumbelow Theatre this weekend.

CATCH a little magic at the Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo as it presents Magical Mayhem on Friday 29 to Sunday 31 July.

The South African Magical Society (SAMS) will host this annual showcase highlighting the best of Durban’s magical talent, which has many brand new facets for patrons to enjoy. The show’s producer, Ricki Gray, already no stranger to Durban audiences, explains that the family friendly show is designed to attract audiences that have enjoyed previous shows hosted by SAMS as well as attract new audiences.

“There are many new surprises in store, for example, this year Roland Stansell, longtime member of the magical society, is hosting the show as Grand Panto Dame, Miss Direction,” explains Ricki.

The show will feature both amateur and professional magicians and will include a variety of magical acts, from illusions to cards and from mentalism to comedy. By popular demand, magicians will not only be performing on stage, but at the tables. This style of magic, called close-up or intimate magic will allow audiences to experience magic like never before, up close and personal.

The venue opens 90 minutes before the show for picnics. Take food picnic baskets, and burgers and chips will be on sale.

Entrance is R140, R120 for pensioners and block bookings of eight or more, and R70 for children under 13.

Book at Computicket or contact Roland for bookings on 082 499 8636.
