Glenwood stage show set to amuse

Glenwood High School is staging the show “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” this month.

GLENWOOD High School will present Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert's musical How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying in the school hall, from 7 to 12 March.

This musical comedy is a exhilaratingly humorous look at the heady world of corporate life and love in the 1960s. Based on Shepherd Mead's book of the same name, the performance features music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, choreography by Donna da Costa and musical/vocal direction by Desireé Govender.

How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying highlights the combustible mix of art and business as it follows the comical story of J. Pierrepont Finch, a young window cleaner with a mind for advancement, on his rapid journey to the top of the corporate ladder. With its roaring cynicism, the musical is an absurd musical comedy that critiques the business world by making light of its idiosyncrasies.

Performances are at 6.30pm, Monday 7 March through to Saturday 12 March with a matinee performance at 2pm on Saturday. There will also be a barnyard-style performance at both the Friday and Saturday night performances.

Ticket prices are R70 for adults and R50 for senior citizens and students. Special group rates as well as scholar-only performances are available. For bookings and information, contact 031 205 5241, email: culture@glenwoodhighschool.co.za or visit www.glenwoodhighschool.co.za
