Creative excellence at Interpret Durban

Interpret Durban will celebrate Durban flavour this Friday night.

INTERPRET Durban celebrates six years of Durban creative excellence on Friday 18 December at 102 Florence Nzama Street, Rivertown Precinct from 5pm.

This year’s theme, Durban Flavour is all about food and asks the city’s creatives to interpret how the shared culture of food ties us all together.

Over half a decade in and Interpret Durban is still growing from strength to strength. Having played host to some of the country’s most inspiring creative minds in the world of both art and music in South Africa’s youth culture this is one event all Durbanites can be truly proud to call their own.

In essence Interpret Durban has two parts to it, one is the month long competition by some of eThekwini’s most talented and ambitious creative to take a shot at a podium spot. The other is the night itself, where the best of the work submitted in each category is placed on display in an exhibition, this is accompanied by a host of live art installations. To celebrate this year Interpret Durban 6 ( ID6 ) has tagged teamed with the people at the Durban Street Food Festival to make a truly Durban proud event.

Alongside the exhibition and live art ID6 will also play host to some of the cities most impressive musical acts in the form of Yorke, DJ Bhashkar, The Pranks, DJ LAG, The Sisters, Mashayabhuqe Kamamba and Layered.

Tickets cost R50. ID6 has made a free shuttle service available to its patrons come the night of the event. The shuttle begins its route from 4.30pm on the night. The four pick up points are outside the KZNSA on Bulwer Road in Glenwood, The Cube on Innes Road in Morningside and a drive past the ICC to pick up guests from the parking lot where patrons can tuck their cars away nice and safe.
