Ghosts and ghouls ready for community fun

Ferguson Roads Halloween Costume party will once again be a spectacular trick or treating event this year with organisers pulling all the stops for the family friendly fun event.

THE residents of Glenwood are busy planning their second Halloween Costume Party with promises of a bigger and better event next Saturday, 31 October at Ferguson Road.

The fun community initiative organisers of 'Nightmare on our Street' costume party, Helen Thompson and Ian Reed wanted to have a fun event where children and the adults of the community could get together in a safe and scary environment for some fun and trick or treating.

“The fun starts at 4pm at the KZNSA Gallery were they will host a colouring in competition for children and adults, followed by fun Pinata smashing time. We will then have the trick or treating from 5 to 6.30pm at various homes along Ferguson Road and a bring and braai Halloween themed dance will be set up thereafter at the Berea Bowling Club. Entertainment for children will include a jumping castle, popcorn machine and big screen will be set up for the Rugby World Cup finals,” explained Reed.

The community have since enjoyed getting together regularly to create Halloween decor which includes hundreds of bats, tombstones, mini and giant pumpkins, upcycled milk bottle skeletons and witches. Urban Pizza and Mooki Noodles have sponsored prizes for the the best dressed children, adults, couple and recycled costume.

Entry to the party costs a bag of wrapped sweets that needs to be dropped of by 28 October at Mooki Noodles or Urban Pizza. For more information visit the Ferguson Road Halloween – 31 October 2015 Facebook page or email: FergusonRoadCommunity@gmail.com to rsvp.
