Artist goes back to her roots with solo exhibition

"My Heritage" by Hillary Grant-Currie, will show at Longmynd Art Gallery in Hillcrest.

THE dictionary describes heritage as a richness of the past in a country, artist Hillary Grant-Currie explains speaking about her solo exhibition labeled My heritage.

Currie draws inspiration from her surroundings, and speaks about the relationship between an artist and the artist’s environment. With a love of nature, Currie’s pieces are consistent with her heritage theme, with rocks, aloes and trees appearing in her pieces. Currie uses self-produced charcoal in her pieces, which is an expression of the artists’s inner landscape as well as a physical expression of her outer landscape.

Currie currently works from Hluhluwe and often exhibits her work throughout the Highway and Midlands areas. Currie’s My Heritage is on display Longmynd Art Gallery at 24 Old main Road Hillcrest until 28 October.
