Concert to help Sam

A benefit concert is being organised to raise funds for hijack victim, Sam Musk.

A BENEFIT concert has been organised to help support Bluff resident, Sam Musk, who was shot and severely injured during a hijacking incident three weeks ago.

The concert will be at Fynnland Combined Sports Club on Saturday, 24 October, and will feature around 10 of Durban's most popular rock/pop bands, who will play free of charge. Acts who have already confirmed are Salty Dog, Calamity Jam, DV8, Jo's Garage, Southern Crisis, Delwyn and The Gypsies and Bobby and The Dynamites.

The doors will be open from midday and the music will start at 2pm. There will also be a jumping castle, a clown act and face painting for kids. There will be raffles and lucky draws throughout the day to supplement money raised from the R30 per person minimum entrance fee.

Sam is recently divorced and is the mother of two young children, who are being cared for by friends and relatives while she is in hospital.

Sam's ex-husband is, unfortunately, not able to make any meaningful contribution to costs incurred.

Sam works as a commission-only insurance broker and has only a hospital plan. This plan is insufficient to cover her current and future medical expenses,

which will include trauma counselling, intensive physiotherapy and neurosurgeon's fees, among others.

To assist with this event, the organisers are also asking for donations of items that can be used as prizes, as well as any cash donations.
