Oom Schalk returns to Seabrooke Theatre

David Muller performs in Oom Schalk, From the Heart 2, at Seabrooke's Theatre.

FOLLOWING a successful debut season in Durban last year, the inimitable Oom Schalk Lourens, Cape Town actor David Muller, returns to Seabrooke's Theatre at DHS for a short season of Oom Schalk, From the Heart 2, opening on Tuesday 1 September at 7pm.

Directed by Celia Musikanth, David Muller continues with the classic tradition of story-telling where renowned South African actors Percy Sieff and Patrick Mynhardt left off. Muller inhabits the Schalk Lourens character in telling Herman Charles Bosman’s stories from the heart.

From Durban to Grahamstown to Cape Town, Oom Schalk, From the Heart, has delighted critics and audiences alike. Now David brings the sequel to Seabrooke. Included in this latest enchanting show are the Bosman favourites: The Music Maker, in which Schalk evaluates a typical artist’s dilemma as only Schalk knows how; White Ant, a delightful surrealistic story where the conversation gets out of their depth and takes a wrong turn; and Go-slow Strike, a post office strike which satirises culture, agriculture and organized labour.
