Win tickets to dine at the world’s longest dinner table

The event will include a full day of local children’s entertainment, bands and musicians as well as cuisine of the highest standards.

THE Greyville Exhibition and Events Company based at Greyville Race Course in Durban has announced the attempt which will be made on 27 April to beat the existing world record for the longest dining table in the world will be challenged by the City of Tswane in August 2015.

The attempt will include serving 2000 diners on the table and it will include the participation of Durban restaurants, hotels, corporate companies, tourism bodies, clubs and charitable organisations as well as private individuals and families wanting to be part of the ground breaking attempt.

The event will include a full day of local children’s entertainment, bands and musicians as well as cuisine of the highest standards the Durban public can savour supplied by the renowned Eat Greek Catering Company.

A number of well know Durban celebrities will be part of the event and Terrance Pillay from East Coast Radio will MC the entire event for Greyville.

Alan Vels Executive Director of the events company said: “We want Durbanites to come out in their masses to ensure that the record we are sure of beating cannot be beaten by another City in South Africa. This is a big mile stone for Durban and we need everyone who’s proud of this beautiful City to be part of this historic attempt.”

Proceeds of the event will be distributed to various charities in and around Greyville.

Individuals will be able to participate by reserving a space and have the opportunity of selecting from a menu of picnic hampers on the day or from food stalls along the length of the table. Every person participating in the event will be personally listed as being part of the world record.

The event which could become an annual one has attracted a vast amount of interest to date and persons or companies wanting to participate can email the Greyville Exhibition and Events Company on worldrecord1@greyvilleevents.co.za to reserve their seat.
