Words and sounds at ‘Twosday’ gig

Musician, Charles Amblard, and Ewok unite for an evening of music and the spoken word at UKZN.

The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music is proud to present the first ‘Twosday’ gig for 2015, featuring Ewok and Charles Amblard, on Friday, 27 February at 6pm.

Guitar and voice, poetry and music, spoken word, hip-hop with Ewok (SA) and Charles Amblard (France) – this is an opportunity to experience the essence of the blues-rocking hip-hop band, Blue Gene. Charles has returned to Durban to begin work on a new album with Ewok.

Both independent international artists, the men have a wealth of combined experience in staging their craft across various genres, sharing the stage with contemporary dance companies in a variety of musical styles before coming together in 2012 as guest artists of the French-SA Seasons.

They have toured SA and France, travelling from Oppikoppi in 2012 to the prestigious Paris Jazz Festival in 2013, consolidating their live compositions into two EPs and a full length album, ‘ Meditate On This’, which are available on iTunes.

The UKZN Centre for Jazz and Popular Music is on level 2 of the Denis Shepstone Building.

Entry is R50 (pensioners R30 and students R15). Contact Thuli on 031 260 3385 or email zamat1@ukzn.ac.za.
