Poetry Africa at Alliance Francaise

Meet two talented artists at Alliance Francaise during this month's Poetry Africa.

POETRY Africa sessions take place on Saturday 18 October at Alliance Francaise, 22 Sutton crescent, Morningside, from 11am to 12.30pm.

Lydol was born Nwafo Dolly Sorel in 1994 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Lydol is a student of economic sciences at the University of Yaoundé II. In 2010, she was the national winner in the Spoken Word category of Challenge Vacances. This marked the beginning of a special love for this art form and from then on she began to increase and expand on her performances, first at school, then in local cabarets and performance halls.

Joseph Baffrou, or better known as Bee Joe, holds a European Masters in communication, administration and management. He has had a professional career in business over 14 years.

Influenced early on by classic French music, as well as the tenors of African music, and influenced by the big names of African literature, he began writing in the 1990s but it was in 2000 that he discovered slam poetry. Since then, Bee Joe swears by his love for words.
