Sexes battle it out at Barnyard

Don't miss the Battle of the Sexes, where rock comes up against pop, at the Barnyard Theatre.

BRACE yourself for the ultimate sexy showdown between the gods of rock music and the pop divas in Battle Of The Sexes at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway until 1 June.

The song list is carefully considered, balancing instantly recognisable recent chart-toppers with evergreen hits, which makes for a high energy show with wide musical appeal. Add to this an accomplished cast that includes two dynamic female dancers, dazzling costumes and a constantly changing backdrop and you have all the ingredients for a fabulous night out.

It is hosted by Jonothan Didlick who has an easy charm and is most impressive vocally. Also from Durban, but making his Barnyard debut, is Phaksy Mngomezulu who is easy on the eye and particularly captivating in his solos. Taking on the mantle of the pop divas are 23-year-old Chrystal Worship and 19-year-old Chloe Geldenhuys. The former looks every inch the diva and delivers standout performances throughout, while the latter is dynamite on stage with a larger-than-life voice that belies her diminutive stature.

Another cast member to shine is guitarist Jethro Stange and James Dobson on keyboards. The rest of the band is made up of Rossouw Coetzee on bass guitar and backing vocals, and Brink Jacobs on drums. The sassy dancers that liven up the show are Paula Dawson and Natalie Heyns who add great value to the production.

Tickets are R145 each from Wednesday to Saturday, with discounted specials of R110 per person every Tuesday night. Sunday is Family Day, with the matinee tickets just R100. Bookings can be made by calling the theatre on 031 566 3045, or e-mailing gateway@barnyardtheatres.co.za.
