Historical romance keeps you guessing

Just Yours places the Durban audience in the same place as its story happens, 71 years later.

JUST Yours, a WWII historical romance, will be at the Catalina Theatre, 18 Boatman’s Way, Wilson’s Wharf from Thursday 6, 13 and 20 February at 7pm, Friday 7, 14, 21 February at 7pm and Saturday 8, 15 and 22 February at 2pm and 7pm.

An innocent young lady, Ada May Green, arrives in Durban. It is 1943 and WWII is raging. She tries to find her place in the big city, looking for work while staying with her godmother, the fiery Florence. Florence is the assistant and lounge singer at the Marine Hotel Lounge. Ada meets a handsome stranger, Daniel Barnes, and the sparks fly, they can`t stand each other!

His mischievous friend Barney Bekker doesn’t help with her bad opinion, but despite bad first impressions their love grows until it is too powerful to deny, until a war-weary Florence tears them apart with lies and deceit.

Will their love endure? All before Danny is deployed to the 262 Squadron RAF in St Lucia, to fly surveillance missions in the PBY5 Catalina airplanes.

The show is written and directed by Sandy Bigara. Just Yours is set in Durban, February of 1943, in the exact spot that the audience are sitting in 2014, 71 years later.

The show is filled to the brim with the haunting love songs of the 40s Bei Mir Bist du Schon, Auf Wiedersehen, If I loved you and Just yours` some of the songs will be performed live by Sandy Bigara. Bound within a beautiful setting, stylish clothes from the era and live piano, this gripping historically-based love story is set on the brink of a life changing event.
