Maher Zain pays tribute to Madiba in Durban concert

Swedish music maestro Maher Zain, will pay tribute to Nelson Mandela with songs dedicated to Madiba at his Durban concert on Saturday, 14 December.

AWARD winning Swedish Muslim music maestro, Maher Zain who is set to arrive in Durban this Friday will dedicate his one night only concert on Saturday, 14 December to international struggle icon and former South African president, Nelson Mandela.

BeLoved Magazine officially announced this week that the concert scheduled to take place at the Growthpoint Kingspark Stadium on Saturday 14 December will go ahead as planned, a day ahead of Madiba’s funeral on Sunday, 15 December.

“It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to the father of our nation as the world mourns his loss. To honour our beloved Madiba, we will be dedicating the Maher Zain concert to him. Maher Zain’s music portrays messages of peace, brotherhood, humanity, respect and love and we feel that this would be an ideal platform to honour and pay tribute a great soul,” said concert promoter Saaima Moola Haffejee.

She said Maher Zain will sing a few songs in tribute to Nelson Mandela including his hit So Soon from the album Forgive Me.

“It’s a song that resonates with what most South African’s are feeling. A great man has left us and we are all in pain. His songs, I believe will help us through this very trying time and will give us the courage as a country to work towards attaining the goals that Madiba has set out,” said Haffejee.

Maher Zain will be joined on tour to South Africa with 16-year-old music star Harris J.

Tickets are available at Computicket and cost between R150 and R1000. The VIP tickets include front of house seats, a meet-and-greet session with the singer, refreshments as well as a photo and autograph session.
