Good news for Comrades runners

The Comrades Marathon Association advises all athletes to use this opportunity made available to assist them.

THE Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) has announced a 50% entry-fee part-payment option that is now available for entrants in next year’s race.

The CMA advises all athletes to use this opportunity made available to assist them. “Once you have reached the end of the online entry process, you will have the option of selecting to either pay your entry fee in full or over two instalments. The second entry fee instalment (outstanding balance) must be paid by no later than 16:30 on February 28, 2023, in order for your entry to be finalised,” said the CMA in the statement.

The statement clarified that if the full and final payment is not made before 16:30 on February 28, next year, the athlete’s entry fee (paid to date) will be forfeited and the partially completed entry will be deactivated and removed.

Launching the 2023 race in Pietermaritzburg recently, the CMA said next year’s event would be held on June 11. In addition, it was revealed that future races would be held on the second Sunday of June for the foreseeable future.

“As part of the post-race feedback we received, an overwhelming majority of runners told us that, as much as they appreciated the logic and rationale behind the August date, they still preferred the June date,” said CMA chairperson Mqondisi Ngcobo.

He added that they were excited to be back in June, and they look forward to hosting another world-class race.
