Getting Durban ready for Absa Run Your City Durban 10K

Stillwater Sports is calling upon Durban residents to help them in the ‘City Clean-Up’ in preparation for the Absa Run Your City Durban 10K this coming weekend.

GEAR UP for yet another eventful weekend in Durban as we prepare for the fifth annual Absa Run Your City Durban 10K race through the ‘City Clean-Up’ on Saturday, 9 July 2022. The event organiser, Stillwater Sports, is calling upon all the Durban residents to join them to help prepare the city, during a clean-up, for the much-anticipated Run Your City Durban 10k which will take place on July 10.

This year will be the fifth annual Absa Run Your City Durban 10K. This is a diverse running series that also takes place in Johannesburg and Cape Town. It aims to integrate businesses and families and invest in community and fun for all participants.

Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and founder of the Absa Run Your City Series, Michael Meyer, describes the clean-up as a great way to get the community involved in keeping their wonderful city clean.

“We love our host cities and are proud to play our part in keeping them clean and getting them race-ready. The City Clean-Up is a great way to get the community involved, and we would like to invite all Durbanites to join in on the fun on Saturday. If you have not yet done so, enter the 2022 event and enjoy the fruit of your hard work on Sunday,” he said.

Apart from the grand prize that every entrant stands a chance to win, online entrants of the race can choose five local charities to support. The charities are: LIV, TREE (Training and Resources in Early Education), Durban and Coast SPCA, iThemba Lethu, and Reach for a Dream Foundation.

Furthermore, partners in the Run Your City Campaign have each committed to giving back R1 for every 1km run and/or walked at the 2022 Absa Run Your City Durban 10K on Sunday, 10 July.

“Just by entering the Durban event, each runner and/or walker will ensure that R40 is donated towards those who have been affected by the floods. The funds raised will be used to purchase non-perishable food items, shoes, clothing and blankets,” stated the organisers.
