International programme welcomes swimmers

The Glenwood international swimming squad comprises two men and three women swimmers from Hungary.

GLENWOOD High School’s international swim programme welcomed the newest crop of international swimmers into its fold recently.

The squad comprises two men and three women swimmers from Hungary who will spend their days either training under the guidance of Glenwood’s head coach, Graham Hill, or studying in the Cambridge Facility. Graham is also the national and Olympic coach and is looking forward to putting the youngsters through their paces.

Marc Labuschagne, Director: High Performance at the school, said: “Glenwood subscribes to a different swimming philosophy than most schools. Although they compete in the inter-school galas, their ambition is to create athletes who will compete on the international stage at youth, junior or senior levels. After the success of the Indian contingent, Glenwood is keen to see how the Hungarians measure up to the local talent,” he said.

Glenwood and Graham now have their eyes set on China and Zimbabwe for 2021.

“We wish the Hungarians all the best, as well as coach Graham, as they head into a busy swim season,” he said.
