Quins take win by seven wickets

Results from Harlequins Cricket Club team matches at the weekend.

FIVE of Harlequins Cricket Club’s teams had league matches on Sunday, 20 October.

The second side versed Lindelani in a scheduled 40 over match at Harlequins. Quins dismissed Lindelani in the 22nd over. The most successful bowler was left arm orthodox slow bowler Rahul Batohi, who captured four wickets for 16 runs off four overs. Fast bowler Tyler Jordan took two wickets for 21 runs in four overs and spinner Jarod Murgatroyd removed two batsmen for 24 runs in 29 deliveries. In response Quins’ batsmen achieved the required target in the 20th over losing just three wickets, winning by seven wickets. Opening batter Mohmedtalha Motalha top scored with a quarter of a century.

Quins 3 took on Delta 3. Quins scored 203 runs in 30 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Theuns Jacobs top scored for Quins with 47 runs and Warren Torguis was undefeated on 44 runs. Delta’s innings ended after the completion of the 30th over, losing three wickets during their unsuccessful attempt. Best bowler for Quins was paceman Shaun Nichol who conceded 18 runs in six overs.

Quins 4 took on Newlands 3. Newlands scored 142 runs, being dismissed in the 29th over. Left arm seam bowler Jonty Morris took three wickets for 18 runs, Clinton Abrahams got three wickets for 15 runs in six overs and JP Van Wyk got two wickets for 20 runs. Quins surpassed the target in the 26th over losing six wickets. Quins 4 won by four wickets.

Quins’ U13 team played against Verulam. Top quality fast bowling by Emanuel Mathebula awarded this bowler with four wickets in four overs conceding three runs. Keenan Stokes took two wickets for three runs. Verulam U13’s were dismissed for 11 runs. Quins responded by losing a solitary wicket for 16 runs, winning by nine wickets.

There is no league cricket in Durban on Sunday, 27 October.
