Action packed day ahead at Amashova

Amashova race day’s hospitality line-up will not disappoint.

WITH the 2019 Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic set for Sunday, 20 October, South Africa’s oldest cycling race has a jam-packed day of thrills, frills and riding action in store.

This year there will be a dedicated #ImStaying batch introduced in the 35km distance for all passionate cyclists and like-minded proudly South Africans to ride together and show their ‘gees’ and support for the wonderful campaign and initiative trending on social media. “We are appealing to all #ImStaying South Africans to enter the race during late registration from Thursday until Saturday and ride in this dedicated batch wearing SA colours and #ImStaying gear in order to shine even more awareness around this wonderfully positive initiative,” said Annie Batchelder, Amashova Race Director.

Cyclists who cross the finish line first in their respective recognised age category will receive a gold medal plus there will be equal prize money for men and women this year. Tsogo Sun Amashova champion with the most recorded elite wins, Nolan Hoffman, will put his pedal to the metal in the elite 160km race for the first time. Hoffman says: “I look forward to competing alongside the other elite riders as we take on this longer, tougher route.”

The race’s charity element continues to grow with a record number of worthwhile charities involved as well as the newly introduced GiveNGain digital donation platform. Inspiring influencers to watch out for on Sunday will include East Coast Radio breakfast presenter Darren Maule, the South African Rugby Legends and hand cyclist, Oliver Sinclair.

Amashova race day’s hospitality line-up will not disappoint. Set at the Suncoast Casino and Entertainment lawn overlooking the sea, spectators and competitors can look forward to the FNB sponsored public hospitality area complete with food market stalls. Popular SA band, Qadasi, will entertain with their live music after TV screens have aired the Rugby World Cup quarter final matches.

Late registrations are still available. Visit www.amashova.co.za. To find out more about donating to a charity of choice, visit https://www.givengain.com/e/amashova2019/.
