0DURBAN’S up-and-coming surfer, Luke Thompson won the BOS Cape Crown presented by Sea Harvest World Surf League (WSL) Junior Qualifying Series (JQS) 1,000 at Long Beach in Kommetjie on Sunday, 15 September.
Thompson edged out the local favourites Eli Beukes (Kommetjie), Luke Slijpen (Llandudno) and Mitch du Preez (East London) in a close final to secure his second Pro Junior win of his career. With this win, he secures the number one position on the WSL Africa Junior rankings.

In the women’s final, Kommetjie local Ceara Knight used her experience at Long Beach for a critical performance, defeating Kayla Nogueira (Durban), Aimee du Preez (East London) and Sarah Scott (Kommetjie).
