Results of Durban Runner Challenge

The Durban Runner Challenge 21.1km/10km race started and finished from Glenwood High School on Sunday, 4 August.

RESULTS of the Durban Runner Challenge 21.1km/10km race, hosted by Durban Runner Athletic Club at Glenwood High School on Sunday, 4 August.

In the Open Men’s category, first was Vuma Mlaba (Ethekwini AC) in a time of 1:09:41, second was Simphiwe Zulu (Hollywood Bets) in 1:13:10, who also took the top position in the 40 to 49 age category, and third was Lindokuhle Ntuli (Hollywood Bets) with 1:15:54, who also took the top spot in the 35 to 39 age category.

In the 50 to 59 age category, winner was Wayne Scott (PDAC) with 1:25:17, and in the 60+ age category, Gordon Truluck (Team Vitality) was first in a time of 1:50:33.

The top three in the Open Women’s category were Loveness Madziva (Maxed Elite) in a time of 1:21:12, Melissa Gelling (DHS) with 1:32:29, and Kerry-Ann Walton (IND) in 1:33:39.

First is the 35 to 39 age category was Robyn Greyling (Get Fit) in 1:34:49, in the 40 to 49 age category, Nonsikelelo Mbambo (Natal Carbs) was first in a time of 1:41:00, in the 50 to 59 age category, Leonie van der Westhuizen (DHS) took the top spot with 1:46:09 and in the 60+ age category, Sheree Kirsten (Westville) was first with a time of 2:01:20.

In the Men’s 10km event, the top there were Nkosiyazi Sithole (Phantane) with a time of 32:29, Nkosinathi Mwandla (T & T) in 37:34, and Vezinhlanhla Tembe (Spar Chesterville) finishing in 37:56.

The top there in the 10km Women’s event were Lisha van Onselen (IND) with 39:02, Amber Schlebusch ((IND) in 39:23, and Stephane Maingard (Faku Chiefs) in a time of 41:07.

Top three positions for the men walkers were taken by Lucky Gumede (Umlazi) in 47:31, Vukani Mdunge (Savages) with 51:22, and Nhlanhla Khanyile (SANDF) in a time of 53:37.

In the women’s walking category, Babongile Memela (Protea Striders) was first in 1:03:32, Belinda Hope (Save Orion) was second with 1:08:59 and Debbie Ivins (Westville) was third in a time of 1:10:12.
