Runner finishes back-to-back Comrades

Durban runner Gerald Pavel said running the Comrades twice was harder than a 100 miler.

LONG-DISTANCE runner Gerald Pavel and running partner Graham Wells, successfully finished back-to-back Comrades Marathon runs at the weekend.

One of Gerald’s many great achievements is completing the well-known Washie 100 miler race as well as the Pietersburg 100 mile and 24-hour track race, however he said running the Comrades twice was harder than a 100 miler.

“I finished the first run in just under 12 hours, but it was raining for eight hours, and it was not easy through the night. We had an hour break and went into our start batch on Sunday. I made it to with seven minutes to spare through half way, and had to dig deep to make it to the finish again in Pietermaritzburg!” he said.
