Coveted Pirates opportunity for young talent

The programme is aimed at training, empowering and inspiring football players from the beginner levels.

MORE than 230 football hopefulls attended the Shield Sbonis’ iDiski football programme on the 8 June at Durban University of Technology .

Now in its third year, the programme is aimed at training, empowering and inspiring football players from the beginner levels . Twenty five coaches from across the country will visit ten regions in June to select the top 25 players, after which the top three players will receive a Multichoice Diski challenge contract with Orlando Pirates for a year.

‘It is thrilling and exciting to see the growth and demand for football development ,the hunger and passion coming from these players is absolutely inspiring,” said Shield head coach, Dumisani Thusi

Local coaches will also receive training at the clinics.The programme is also open to female players.

Thus far coaches have been impressed by ten players in the run- up to announcing the final 25 players in mid July.
