KZN Softball victorious

KZN Softball took part in the 40th Annual Gordon Monk Softball Tournament.

KZN Softball was represented at the 40th Annual Gordon Monk softball tournament in Kempton Park recently.

The second largest tournament in the country – all but one of the softball provinces were represented at the event.

The KZN Men’s A team was victorious, winning the A Division. Playing Tshwane in a nail-biting final, KZN pipped them 7-6 in the last innings thanks to a two run homerun by Javier Frost.

The KZN Men’s B team excelled as well but unfortunately lost to Ekurhuleni in the B Division final.

The KZN women’s team showed a lot of character and spirit by coming third, proving they will be contenders at the National Provincial Championships in March.

KZN also won individuals awards: Javier Frost was awarded Most Valuable Player in the Men’s A Division and Cameron Dubber was awarded Best Pitcher in the Men’s B Division.

The club league continues at Queensmead with men’s matches on a Thursday night, women’s matches on Sunday morning and the Junior Bolt League on Sunday afternoons.
