Be a Comrades Marathon superhero

One of the platforms in which funds are raised for Community Chest is through Race4Charity.

THE Community Chest, one of the official charities of the Comrades Marathon Association, is encouraging runners to raise money for the organisation through the Race4Charity initiative.

The Chest is privileged to have runners who are ‘superheroes’ to the over 6 000 children whom the Chest helps feed and educate, including Barry Holland and David Williams who have pledged to run the Comrades Marathon 2019 in support of the organisation.

David, who runs for Savages Athletics Club, has completed 41 Comrades Marathon races and Barry from Dolphin Coast Striders has completed 46 Comrades Marathons.

There are currently only 12 runners in the world who have completed 40 or more Comrades Marathons.

They are encouraging others to take up the challenge and run for charity this year.

Once entered to run the race, runners are encouraged to register their profile on www.comrades.com.

Supporters then donate to the runner’s profile and upon raising a minimum of R6 000, the runner gets to start the race in the “C” batch and receive a goodie bag from the Community Chest.
