Cricket games resume

Harlequins Cricket Club's teams start with the second half of the season this month.

A SUCCESSFUL sixers tournament comprising eight teams was hosted by Harlequins Cricket club recently.

A downpour prevented the tournament final from being held and consequently the baseball team was awarded the winner’s trophy by virtue of having won all their preceding matches. Best bowler, batsman, and fielder awards were allocated as well as numerous lucky draw hampers which were allocated to players.

All five senior Sunday teams have mostly home league matches on 13 January. The first side take on the competitive composite Umzinto team in a 50 over promotion league match at Harlequins from 9am. The second team challenge Silver Saints at Harlequins 2 in a 40 over match from 1pm, the third 11 verse Silver Saints in a 30 over division three game at Wentworth park at 1.30pm, the fourth team play Phoenix 4 in a 30 over encounter from 1.30pm at Lt King Park, and the fifth side take on Chesterville in a 30 over division five match at Cato Manor 1.

The sixth team and U11 teams will start the second half of the current season on 20 January.

The club holds senior practice sessions at the Harlequins nets on Tuesday and Thursdays from 4.30pm and U11 coaching is from 4.30pm on Fridays.
