KZN six make SA schools & Colts sides

In the SA Schools side are two Glenwood boys in Thamsanqa Khumalo and Lefa Ntanzi.

FOLLOWING the conclusion of the 2018 Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week in Cape Town on Thursday, six players, three from KZN Coastal and three from KZN Inland, were selected for the SA Schools and SA Colts teams respectively.

Both KZN sides had reasonably good week’s with a mixture of results but to have such a strong representation in the national sides is a testament to the talent that KwaZulu-Natal has to offer.
In the SA Schools side are two Glenwood boys in Thamsanqa Khumalo and Lefa Ntanzi, while Westville Boys’ High School pupil Caleb Pillay was also selected for the national schools team.

“At the KZN Cricket Union we are immensely proud of the three players selected to represent SA Schools,” KZN Coastal Cricket Services Manager Ritesh Ramjee said.
“All three players have played through the various age groups teams for KZN Coastal and two of the three players have come through the development system which is great news for KZN cricket and the systems in place.”

Of the representatives in the SA Colts side two are from Hilton College, James Ritchie, who will captain the side, and Gareth Schreuder while Maritzburg College’s Mondli Khumalo is the other KZN representative in the Colts team. “We are incredibly happy with the selections,” KZN Inland Cricket Services Manager Jason Sathiaseelan said. “Our side had a very good week and to have players representing us in the national sides is terrific.
“There was hope that James Ritchie might have made the SA Schools side considering he scored over 240 runs through the week but he will captain the Colts side.
“Gareth contributed well throughout the week and we are delighted in his selection.
“Mondli has been involved in the SA U19 set-up already and also has another year at the Coke Week so we are excited to see what he can learn with the Colts team.”
