Teamriders aim for podium finish at KZN Champs

Surfers from the coastline of KZN will be showing their talent at the event.

ENTRIES are pouring in for the 2018 Lizzard Hurricane KZN Surfing Champs at Bronze Beach, Umhlanga on 1 and 2 December.

Surfers from the coastline of KZN will be put through their paces at the event which will see surfers between 8 and 65 years old competing .

Lizzard teamrider Quinton Shabalala, (34), has been spending a lot of time in the water practicing for the KZN Champs. Quinton is a lifeguard at the Durban beachfront and is involved in the Sisonke Surf Club, which encourages young up-and-coming surfers in Durban.

“It is a very busy time of the year for me. I have a beautiful eight-year-old daughter Luyanda who keeps me busy, plus I keep very fit for lifesaving. But my real passion is surfing. I can’t wait for the KZN Champs this year.”

Lizzy teamrider Chanelle Botha is multiple SA Champ and multiple KZN Champ. Chanelle who won the KZN Champs in all age divisions is hoping to add the Open womens title to her collection.
