Tyrone turns to coaching

Tyrone Pillay will be mentoring up-and-coming shot putters and discus throwers of any age and enthusiasm.

TYRONE Pillay, the 2016 Paralympic bronze medalist and All Africa Games gold medallist and African record holder for the F63 division in shot put, has returned from a scouting trip to Dubai and Japan in preparation for the 2019 World Champs and 2020 Paralympics.

As part of his preparation for these two prestigious events, he will be training at CKS Athletics Club based at Port Natal School where he will mentor up-and-coming shot putters and discus throwers. .

Clyde Kinloch, CKS’s administrator and head coach encouraged athletes aged nine and upwards to make contact with CKS to take advantage of the opportunity to train with and under the guidance of an icon like Tyrone.

As a club and training squad mentor himself, Kinloch has an undying passion for the sport, and gives up an immense amount of work and personal time for his passion to see athletes compete from school to international level.

“Athletics as a sport is a long term process, sometimes with the end goal years down the line, but with commitment and support from family and the coaches, we will develop athletes into champions of the future,” he said.
