Local academy win tourney title
Metro Elite Academy took the U15 title at the 4th edition of the annual Metro Cup.
DURBAN based soccer academy, Metro Elite, took the U15 title at the 4th edition of the annual Metro Cup recently.
The competition was hotly contested with the U15 division returning teams Metro Elite, Footy Ballito Academy and All Stars Academy competing against two new academies, Mtuba Academy and Metro Stars Academy.
After a tight five team group format in the dying minutes, the semi-finalists in the U15 division were Footy Ballito, Metro Elite, Mtuba Academy and All Stars.

In the final five minutes of the encounters, Metro Elite and Footy Ballito stepped up and secured the victories.
The final was decided by a moment of brilliance from the Metro Elite midfielder after he struck a ferocious half volley from outside the box into the top corner. Metro Elite took the title with the score 1-0.
Metro Elite’s U15 player, Nqubeko Zuke was awarded as goalkeeper of the tournament and Letho Ngidi was recognised at player of the tournament.
