THE South African Air Rifle Association (SAARA) KZN held an awards ceremony at Kingsmead Cricket stadium on Saturday. Among the dignitaries who attended was the Vice President of the KZN Sports Confederation, Shana Viljoen.
Piet Du Plooy, SAARA KZN president told those in attendance that the association had started with a small number of members which had now grown to 50. “The aim is to have over 100 members by the end of 2019, which will make us the biggest in the country. We are moving at the right direction.”
“The main reason we are here, is to honor those athletes who have done so well. We will also be honoring those who performed well but did not meet the national standards with the SAARA academy award. We want to keep them motivated and will be handing certificates to those who made it to the provincial team,” explained Du Plooy.
