Ironman lands in South Africa

Men and women will race in the distinctive kit of The Cows at the Ironman 70.3 World Champs to raise money and awareness for CHOC.

DURBAN Cows will join 4500 athletes from 90 countries around the world in Port Elizabeth this weekend for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. There will be a number of men and women racing in the distinctive kit of The Cows to raise money and awareness for the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Two of the local Apocalypse Cows, Jayde Fouche and Roxy Coetzee-Turner, together with Capetonian Cowgirl, Kelly Van Der Toorn, will take part in the women’s event on Saturday, 1 September.

Apocalypse Cow, Roberto Riccardi, will take part in the men’s event the following day.

This race is the first Ironman 70.3 World Championship to be held on the African continent and is the culmination of over 100 qualifying events with more than 185 000 athletes competing. The race is comprised of a 1.9km swim, a 90km bike and a 21.1km run.
