Take a nature hike

Get out and about in nature this weekend with local hiking clubs.

JOIN local hikers this weekend for a variety of hikes through some of Durban’s finest green spaces.
Durban Ramblers Hiking Club will hike to Botha’s Hill Station around Assagay Streets on Saturday, 24 March.
Meet at 1.45pm at Sugar Loaf Centre, 3 Old Main Road, Hillcrest
Hike from Sugar Loaf Centre to Botha’s Hill Railway Station and back along the streets of Assagay.
Grade 2 – moderate to long.

On Sunday, 25 March, the group will hike at Blythedale Beach and Forest.
Hike along the beach to the Mvoti Estuary and back through Jon’s mystical forest. Petrol sharing R50.
Grade 2; distance is ±15km.

AMBLERS Hiking Club will hike the Bluff at 5.45am on Saturday 24 March.
The group will hike from the undercover at park at Lighthouse Road Spar to treasure beach. Contact Lorraine on 082 726 7787.

On the weekend of 23 to 25 March the group will climb The Chains. Hike to the top of the Amphitheatre climbing the chain ladder and stay over two nights at Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge. Hiking spectacular to the top of Tugela Falls. Take warm clothes. Contact David on 072 615 0559.

On Sunday, 25 March, the group will hike Longshadows at Krantzkloof Nature Reserve. Meet at the picnic site on Kloof Falls Road at 2pm sharp. Reserve entrance fee is R30. Contact Lawson on 071 460 3529.
