Victory for Go!Durban Cycle Academy super star

A rigorous training programme and sheer love for mountain biking helped Mncedisi outshine the rest of his team mates.

IT was an early Christmas for Mncedisi Mkhize as he scooped top awards for winning the KZN Spur Series in the boys under 14 category recently.

A rigorous four days a week training programme and sheer love for mountain biking helped Mncedisi outshine the rest of his team mates in the competition.

“I’ve always loved mountain biking, since I was a very young boy. But success doesn’t come easy as with everything. It means you have to train hard to perform well and be dedicated to the sport,” he said.

Mncedisi also gave credit to the Go!Durban Cycle Academy for being the catalyst in realising his dream.

The Academy offers more than 500 children the opportunity to learn to ride a bike as well as academic support for the children and nutritional meals to help them perform at their best. The Go!Durban cycle academy currently operates in eNanda Adventures, KwaMashu and KwaDabeka with a new academy set to open on Chesterville in the near future.
