Quins host successful tourney

UMBILO Harlequins Cricket Club hosted a successful six-a-side tournament on Saturday, 16 December.

The competition comprised 11 teams competing in two sections, semi-finals and a final match to determine the overall winners. Runners up in the final were Dylan Jenkins Baseball Team, and the overall winners were the team Motalha perfumes (first team). Player of the tournament was Mohammed Patel, who earned his accolade through his sprightly high front on bowling action and hard hitting. Kevin Kettle’s nonchalant yet majestic bashing of the ball over the clubhouse and over many other sections of the boundary earned him the batting award. Trevor Campbell, with his dart accurate medium pacers, secured the bowling accolade.

The event was an overwhelming success, due to the endeavours of chief organiser Keith Baxter, as well as Eric Cavanagh, Marc Len Ferna Del La Motte, Momadthala Motalha, Shane Manicom and many others, not excluding the supporters.

All matches and training sessions have been concluded for the current year. The first round of matches for the second half of the season is on Sunday, 14 January, with senior practices commencing on 12 January.
